European patent strengthens protection for ORC-144
European Patent No. 4 243 797 adds to Orcosa’s intellectual property portfolio supporting its investigational CBD tablet for acute pain.
Orcosa announced the grant of European Patent No. 4 243 797, adding an important milestone to its intellectual property portfolio supporting ORC-144, the company’s investigational cannabidiol (CBD) tablet.
The patent includes claims directed to specified rapidly disintegrating CBD compositions for treating pain through administration to the buccal mucosa, the tissue inside the cheek. The granted claims also address formulation characteristics and dosing regimens, protecting defined aspects of Orcosa’s approach to developing ORC-144.
ORC-144 uses Orcosa’s proprietary RITe™ Platform and is being developed for acute pain. Clinical research with the tablet, including the randomized study conducted by NYU Langone investigators following rotator cuff repair, forms part of that development effort.
The European grant adds to Orcosa’s growing patent portfolio as the company advances its own medicines. Additional patent applications in the United States and other markets support its broader intellectual property strategy.
ORC-144 is investigational and has not been approved by the FDA.
