Kevin Kaplan, MD, appointed Chief Medical Officer
An orthopedic surgeon and sports medicine leader brings a patient-care perspective to Orcosa’s clinical development.
Orcosa appointed Kevin Kaplan, MD, FAAOS, as Chief Medical Officer to lead clinical development, regulatory strategy, and medical affairs across its pipeline. His appointment brings two decades of sports medicine experience to the company’s work developing medicines with its RITe™ tablet technology.
A board-certified orthopedic surgeon with a subspecialty in sports medicine, Dr. Kaplan has extensive experience treating musculoskeletal injuries and helping patients through recovery. At the time of his appointment, he had served 16 seasons as a physician for the Jacksonville Jaguars, including 12 years as Head Team Physician.
Dr. Kaplan earned his undergraduate degree at Tulane University and his medical degree at New York University School of Medicine. He completed his orthopedic residency at NYU Langone, where he served as Executive Chief Resident, followed by a sports medicine fellowship at the Kerlan-Jobe Orthopaedic Clinic.
His clinical perspective adds to Orcosa’s multidisciplinary team as it advances ORC-144, its investigational lead candidate for acute pain, and develops additional programs. Orcosa’s approach considers both the medicine and the everyday experience of taking it, connecting clinical insight with formulation and development expertise.
